Behnke Materials Engineering offers expert construction materials testing and inspection in SE Wisconsin and beyond. Our HTCP- and ACI-certified technicians provide specialized testing for asphalt, concrete, aggregates, and base materials, adhering to all AASHTO, ASTM, FAA, local, and agency standards.

Our Testing Services

  • ASPHALT: density, cores, extraction, asphalt content, gradation, air voids, Hamburg, DCT, and IDEAL CT.
  • CONCRETE: air content, slump, temperature, compression, flexural, cores, resistivity, and the SAM meter.
  • AGGREGATES: moisture, specific gravity, gradation, freeze-thaw, soundness, wear, and lightweight pieces.
  • BASE: proctors, density, plasticity, and R4/P4 gradation.

Fabrication Inspection

BME has five Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI)-certified inspectors available to assist with plant, precast, or prestressed fabrication inspections. Our lead PCI inspector has over 20 years of experience in the precast/prestressed fabrication industry and is extremely knowledgeable about the fabrication of structural components. Currently, BME inspects the fabrication of prestressed girders for WisDOT in the SE/SW Region.

Our Credentials

  • Our technicians are certified in the Highway Technician Certification Program (HTCP) and by the American Concrete Institute (ACI).
  • We ensure our technicians are trained and reevaluated annually by management.
  • Our lab is AASHTO re:source- and CCRL-accredited.
  • We are accredited to work on Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) projects.
  • Our prestressed and precast (PCI) Level II and Level III certified inspectors are experienced in prestressed and precast fabrication inspection for agencies.
