More Than Just Testing….

Behnke Materials Engineering, LLC (BME) was first started in 2012 when Jay Behnke, PE (hometown -Green Bay and UW Madison graduate) wanted to recreate his successful Illinois based materials engineering firm, S.T.A.T.E. Testing, LLC, up in Wisconsin.   S.T.A.T.E. Testing, LLC was started by Jay in 1999 and serves clients like the Illinois Tollway, City of Chicago, O’Hare Modernization Project, Illinois Department of Transportation and various Counties and Cities.  Signe Reichelt, PE was hired at the end of 2012 to manage BME and later became the majority owner in 2016.  Over the past 8+ years, BME has grown to become a very successful Agency Focused materials engineering firm in Wisconsin.

BME is an agency focused materials engineering firm.  Our business philosophy is that we are more than just testing.  We provide our clients with technicians who are experienced, cross-trained, confident and professional.  Our lab is AASHTO Re:Source and CCRL accredited.  BME is currently under contract by WisDOT to perform aggregate source testing, PCC Beam testing, PCC Cylinder testing, HMA field and laboratory testing along with research through the Wisconsin Highway Research Program (WHRP).  Our materials engineers consult for WisDOT and the Illinois Tollway, providing specification writing, implementation of statistical analysis for acceptance, evaluation of new products and research review.

It is our mission is to provide the most qualified technicians and engineers for all of our clients’ materials testing and inspection needs.  We hope to elevate materials testing by delivering accurate testing and constant communication, so our clients can make timely decisions to ultimately improve pavement quality and longevity.
