In 2019, BME was the Principal Investigator on the Wisconsin Highway Research (WHRP) 0092-19-05 Rubber Asphalt Study for Wisconsin. For this research, BME teamed up with Applied Research Associates and S.T.A.T.E. Testing, LLC to evaluate the use and performance of Ground Tire Rubber in WisDOT project near Beloit, WI. This project included three types of rubber: (1) Terminal Blend, (2) Terminal Blend Hybrid and (3) Dry-Process. Each mix was evaluated for performance using the Hamburg, SCB and DCT, along with volumetrics, asphalt content and density. The roadway was scanned prior to paving and after paving.
